Counselling For When Life Feels Overwhelming

I offer counselling for people who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationships, life changes, or a sense that something just isn’t right, even if you can’t quite put it into words. You don’t need to have a clear goal before starting; we begin with where you are.

My way of working is warm, thoughtful, human and tailored to you. I focus on building a safe, respectful relationship where you can speak openly and be heard without fearing judgement. Sometimes our work will involve gently exploring your past; other times it will focus on what’s happening in your life right now and how to cope more effectively. I adapt to your needs rather than using a one-size fits all approach.

Above all, I aim to offer a space where you feel understood, supported and not rushed. Counselling with me is not about being “fixed” it’s about making sense of your experiences, strengthening your self-trust, and finding a way forward that feels right for you.

Two Humans sitting together without judgment just acceptance.

I’ll help us gently track what’s happening in the moment: words, silences, body language, emotions. Together, we’ll listen for the story under the story.

How it works…

Therapy with me is built on a simple belief: people do not need to be fixed — they need to be understood, supported, and met as human beings. My work is rooted in a humanistic approach, which means I see you as the expert on your own life. Rather than telling you who you are or what you should do, I work alongside you to help you make sense of your experiences and find your own way forward.

Humanism, at its heart, is about dignity, choice, and the belief that every person has the capacity to grow when they are met with respect, warmth and honesty. In practice, this means our work is collaborative, not clinical. You are not a diagnosis or a problem to solve — you are a person with a story, a nervous system, relationships, and a life context that all matter.

In sessions, I offer a calm, thoughtful and supportive space where you can speak openly without fear of being judged, analysed, or rushed. Some people come with clear goals; others come feeling lost, overwhelmed, numb, or unsure what’s wrong — all of that is welcome here. We move at a pace that feels right for you, and nothing is forced or pushed before you’re ready.

How we work will change depending on what you need. Sometimes therapy is about understanding patterns from your past that still affect you today. Other times it’s about coping with what’s happening in the present — anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, life changes, or simply the pressure of being human. I don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. I adapt my way of working to you, not the other way around.

I also work relationally, which means the relationship between us matters. I believe healing often happens not just through insight, but through experiencing a different kind of relationship — one that is steady, respectful, emotionally safe and real. This can gently reshape how you see yourself and how you relate to others.

Above all, therapy with me is not about being “fixed” or taught how to be someone else. It’s about becoming more yourself — with greater clarity, self-trust, emotional resilience and freedom of choice. My role is to walk alongside you with warmth, honesty and care as you make sense of your life and decide what comes next.

My Lens

As a stroke survivor and someone who has rebuilt a life from the ground up, I hold deep respect for the quiet courage it takes to face yourself. My work is informed by trauma theory, attachment, somatic awareness, and relational depth — but more than that, it’s shaped by lived experience.

Therapy with me is collaborative. It’s a relationship of equals. I’ll walk alongside you, not ahead.
